COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

Angels in Action — Breaking Bread Program

This year, Simon House launched a new monthly initiative in collaboration with Angels In Action Calgary, a local organization on a mission to serve Calgary's homeless community. These events see clients and staff working together to assemble sandwiches for the homeless community. These sandwiches are collected and distributed among those in need.

Recovery Coaches Alberta — Staff Certification Training

Simon House has embraced Recovery Coaching as an integral component of its support and service offerings. As a result, Simon House works with Recovery Coaches Alberta to ensure staff members receive appropriate training, and meet current certification standards.

Where capacity constraints prevent Simon House from taking on new clients, waitlisted clientele are also referred through Recovery Coaches Alberta to ensure these individuals receive prompt care via the network of certified Recovery Coaches across the province.

Current Simon House clientele are also provided the opportunity to connect with an external Recovery Coach prior to the completion of their treatment program. This collaboration is a valued component in building the Recovery Capital of our clients — together we can Break the Cycle of addiction!

Alcove Calgary — Indigenous Family Reunification Program

Simon House’s partnership with Alcove Calgary supports family reunification and provides a better chance at long-term recovery for families returning home after treatment. Community activities and visitation will be shared between the two organizations, providing a way for families to have new experiences and learn new skills that support life in recovery.

This collaboration supports Simon House’s current Indigenous Programming initiatives.

Jewish Family Services Calgary — AfterCARE Program Supports

Simon House Recovery Centre has partnered with the Jewish Family Services of Calgary (JFSC).

This partnership will offer a variety of supports to Simon House clientele, including family reunification support, counselling, housing, and further access to resources through the JFSC network. Clients of both Jewish and non-Jewish heritage are invited to access these resources.

We are excited to see the value this collaboration will bring to Simon House's AfterCARE programming— the first area of focus as this partnership develops.
